Materials
Inner and outer rings are generally made of high-strength bearing steel or special steel materials, such as alloy steel (for example, GCr15) to ensure good hardness, wear resistance and load-bearing capacity. Rolling elements (cylindrical rollers or tapered rollers) also use similar high-strength bearing steel or special alloy steel to meet high load and long life requirements.
Seals
Seals are usually made of rubber or synthetic rubber materials to prevent external contaminants from entering the bearing and maintain the effectiveness of grease. Grease selection should be optimized according to bearing operating conditions (such as temperature, speed, load) to ensure good lubrication and bearing life.
Cages
Double-row spherical roller bearing cage designs are generally of two main types:
Steel cages: Steel cages have high strength and rigidity and are suitable for industrial applications with high loads and high speeds. They are usually formed by cold stamping or machining to ensure precise size and geometry.
Copper cages: Brass has good thermal conductivity and can effectively help dissipate heat from the bearing, which helps to improve the operating efficiency and life of the bearing. Brass has good corrosion resistance and can provide good protection in certain corrosive working environments. It is easy to process and form, suitable for some special shapes and complex structures of cage design requirements.
Plastic cage: Plastic cages have good wear resistance and self-lubrication, which can reduce noise and vibration in some cases. Their common manufacturing processes include injection molding or die casting to meet the requirements of complex bearing design.
Manufacturing process
Select high-quality alloy steel or special steel materials that meet the requirements of bearing standards, and perform appropriate pretreatment such as heat treatment and surface treatment to enhance the hardness and wear resistance of the material.
Outer and inner ring processing: The processing of the outer and inner rings usually includes processes such as turning, grinding and heat treatment to ensure the flatness and accuracy of the rolling contact surface.
Rolling element manufacturing: The manufacturing of rolling elements (cylindrical rollers or tapered rollers) includes processes such as hot forging or cold heading to form rollers with precise dimensions and surface quality.
Cage processing and assembly: Cage processing is usually machined or injection molded to ensure that the rollers are properly separated and positioned.
The inner and outer rings, rolling elements and cages are assembled into a complete bearing unit and subjected to final quality inspection and lubrication. Through precise material selection, advanced manufacturing processes and strict quality control, double row spherical roller bearings can provide stable and reliable performance and undertake important load-bearing tasks in various industrial applications.
