Materials typically used by Kaydon include AISI 440C stainless steel with a hardness of 58 HRc, and higher grades such as 17-4PH can be used based on application needs. Combinations of stainless steel raceways with ceramic rolling elements (known as hybrid ceramic bearings) have demonstrated higher stiffness and lower torque.
