RealiSlim Sealed Bearings

The seals on RealiSlim sealed thin section bearings consist of nitrile/BUNA-N rubber bonded to metal washers. Certain sizes offer high-temperature PTFE seals (up to 250°C) or Viton seals (up to 230°C). The inner lip of the seal frictionally contacts the bearing inner ring, effectively sealing out dust and moisture particles while preventing lubricant leakage. Contact seals generate significantly higher friction torque levels compared to open bearings and reduce the maximum speed of the bearing. Below -40°C, nitrile rubber and Viton harden, leading to reduced sealing effectiveness; therefore, PTFE seals or metal protective shields should be considered for extremely low temperatures.

Types of RealiSlim sealed thin section bearings

Even with larger shaft and housing bore sizes, the cross-section remains unchanged, hence RealiSlim sealed thin section bearings are also referred to as constant section (CS) bearings. The catalog lists RealiSlim sealed thin section bearings, including Conrad assembled deep groove radial RealiSlim sealed thin section bearings (Type C) and four-point contact radial RealiSlim sealed thin section bearings (Type X).

Angular contact (Type A): Type A RealiSlim sealed thin section bearings are recommended for applications with high axial loads and are also suitable for radial or combined radial-thrust applications. These A-type bearings should not be used alone for moment loads or reverse axial loads. Typically, two A-type thin-section sealed bearings are used in tandem.

Type X thin-section sealed bearings: These are four-point contact RealiSlim sealed thin-section ball bearings, ideal for handling moment loads. Type X RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings feature Gothic arch groove designs, creating four points of contact between the balls and raceways. This design is highly suitable for moment loads and reverse axial loads. While Type X RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings can be used under other light load conditions, they are not recommended to replace C-type or A-type RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings for purely radial loads.

Type C RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings: These are radial contact RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings, featuring deep groove designs capable of bearing high loads. While primarily used for radial load applications, they can handle moderate axial loads, reverse axial loads, and moment loads.

Materials

Chrome steel, stainless steel, ceramic hybrids Standard RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings listed in the product catalog feature SAE 52100 steel rings and balls. RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings can also be manufactured from other specialty bearing steels to provide corrosion resistance, high-temperature capabilities, alternative load capacities, or chemical compatibility.

Rings

AUBEARING uses SAE 440C stainless steel to manufacture RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings for corrosion resistance. As an alternative to stainless steel rings, the entire surface of the rings can be coated with thin dense chromium (TDC). This coating complies with AMS 2438 standards and forms molecular bonds that do not peel, delaminate, or separate from the substrate. TDC plating has a hardness of HRC 70 - 78, capable of withstanding temperatures far exceeding those of the base material. Some special RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings are made from aluminum, 300 series stainless steel, 17-4 stainless steel, and other metals.

Balls

Some available special ball materials include 440C stainless steel, 300 series stainless steel, silicon nitride, and M-50 steel.

Precision

ABEC-1 to ABEC-7 RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings are available in four precision grades: ABEC grades 1, 3, 5, and 7. Tolerances for bearing bore, outer diameter, and radial clearance are shown in the product tables.

Sizes

Bore sizes for RealiSlim sealed thin-section bearings range from 0.750 inches to 40.000 inches. Cross-sectional areas of the product line range from 0.187 x 0.187 inches to 1.000 x 1.000 inches.
